By Dennis Mutua,

Leading e-commerce company Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) has announced plans to hire a staggering 6,000 workers for a variety of positions across Canada. These positions will encompass full-time, part-time, and seasonal roles, providing job seekers with a diverse array of opportunities to join one of the world’s leading technology and retail companies.

According to Amazon the employees will work across its operations network in jobs that involve picking, packing, sorting and shipping customer orders.

These opportunities will be spread across multiple Amazon fulfillment centers, delivery stations, and corporate offices in cities such as Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary, among others.

The announcement comes at a time when Amazon is injecting an investment of over $70 million in pay increase for fulfillment and transportation employees who will have their average hourly wage increased to $21 from $17 in 2018.

As per the new compensation plan, hourly full- and part-time employees will receive pay increases every six months until their 24-month anniversary, and another increase at their 36th month.

As Amazon increases its workforce in Canada, it is equally committed to the safety and well-being of its employees. The company has put safety measures in place to ensure the health and well-being its employees.

Currently in Canada, Amazon operates north of 60 logistics sites and has two new locations on the way before the year wraps up.
